Day 6: Hardeep and Natalie Face the Chop Bookmark and Share
Natalie and Hardeep have been nominated for the first eviction of the series, after President Kirstie gave Jermaine immunity in a twist.

Having been made President of the House during Thursday's launch show, Kirstie was able to give one housemate an advantage on Monday afternoon.

Stood at her presidential lectern, she announced that she would grant a 'pardon' to one housemate, guaranteeing them safety from the first eviction.

After interviewing the other housemates individually and conferring with her Vice President, Ryan Thomas, she later awarded the pardon to Jermaine.

Shortly afterwards, the first round of nominations took place – and it featured two old-school changes, in keeping with other classic tweaks that have been made for this series.

For the first time in over a decade, housemates were gathered and held in the lounge while nominations took place. This was an original feature of the nominations process but it was dropped in 2007, when the smoking ban came in to effect, meaning housemates could no longer smoke indoors.

In addition, housemates were called to the Diary Room to nominate in alphabetical order, rather than no particular order.

Eventually, it was announced that Natalie and Hardeep are in the firing line this week, having received eight and six nominations respectively.

However, it was not made clear how this was decided. The result would be in keeping with the old Channel 4 rule, which stipulated that the two or more housemates with the most nominations face the public vote.
