Lydia has been evictedAdd comment | ||
Lydia Louisa left the Big Brother House tonight after losing out in the public vote to her devoted frenemy Deana. What words can possibly describe the effect our dancer and one half of a sort-of-celebrity coupling had on the House? She was a hurricane of activity, a whirlwind of vivacity, a tornado of tittle-tattle and she definitely provided us with a welcome gust of gameplay. Nominated by Deana on launch night under difficult circumstances, Lydia didn't hold back in expressing her disappointment in Miss India UK over the perceived slight. However, the two became weirdly close over the following 23 days (if you disregard Lydia's sneaky nomination of her in the first week) and the two could often be found sharing 'priceless information' when it came to nominations-based chats. Lydia's relationship with Andy Scott-Lee provided us with so much to talk about from Day One and gave us plenty to debate regarding the nature of celebrity. It was never entirely clear whether or not Lydia was joking when she told her fellow housemates that her beau was super-famous. It could even have been a tactic of intimidation - but if it was a ruse she kept up the act like a first class thesp. Luckily Andy saw the funny side and earned himself a hero's reception when he called the Bit On The Side studio. In terms of friendship, on top of the slightly shaky Deana alliance, Lydia's closest pal was probably Benedict who unfortunately for her was voted out on Day 18. After his eviction, Deana played it shrewd and floated from one housemate to another, picking up titbits of gossip and sharing it with anyone she felt might benefit her cause. But it wasn't all gameplay and gossip. Lydia brought with her an incredibly sharp sense of humour and some fantastically watchable monologues concerning her opinions on her fellow housemates. In 25 short days, she rapidly earned herself a place in the BB Hall of Fame, building up a legion of fans in addition to a hoard of viewers who wouldn't be able to admit to the cast-iron fact that they love to hate her. For better or for worse, Ms Lydia Louisa will most certainly be missed. |
